Daily Painting, Small Oil Painting, Mountain Landscape Painting, 6x8" Oil, "High in the Sky"

If you live in Colorado, you probably don't consider 6,000+ feet as high in the sky.  That is the altitude of Water Rock Knob, North Carolina, which is depicted in this daily painting

I returned from a week touring Colorado.  It is incredibly beautiful and wild.  Where else can you go to see a herd of antelope grazing, or big horn sheep!  The prairie is as gorgeous as the mountains.  I wasn't expecting the beauty of rolling hills, of mother deer with their fawns walking through the waist high grasses.

But this painting is from a kinder, gentler mountain.  What is high in the Blue Ridge is a starting point in the Rockies!  I love both places.  Being a flatlander, I feel blessed to be able to visit these stunning landscapes.

Poppies and Mountains Oil Painting, Daily Painting, Small Oil Painting, Appalachian Wall Decor

Last year we left beautiful western North Carolina, and moved to Florida.  We are missing the beautiful scenes of the Blue Ridge Mountains and the Smoky Mountains.

This is a small landscape palette knife painting.  It captures the summer hues of Appalachia.

Enjoy!

Small Mountain Landscape, Daily Painting, Small Oil Painting,SOLD, 6x8" Original Oil

Inspired by a drive on the Blue Ridge Parkway.

SOLD

I am always inspired by the stunning, scenic, mountain views.

I like to display these small pieces  on a shelf, along with my other "treasures".  Many times, I don't even bother to frame them.

I am in the mountains now, and it is a cool sunny morning.  This Florida girl is running around in layers, trying to stay warm in the morning and stripping down in the afternoon heat.  Of course, the North Carolina natives, consider me to be rather wimpy.  So be it!

Mountain Sunset Painting, Daily Painting, Small Oil Painting, "Blue Ridge Sunset" by Carol Schiff, 6x8" Oil SOLD

This mountain sunset painting is a result of our most recent trip to Smoky Mountains of North Carolina.  We were there for the beautiful leaf viewing season, and it was spectacular!  We came home to Florida on Halloween and missed the incredible 22" of snow that accumulated the next day.  I am sure that cut the leaf season short.

SOLD
The leaves were not the only spectacular sight!  I find the mountains as fascinating as the ocean with it's constantly changing moods.

This is me, having fun!!

This month, we will be making our first winter trip to our North Carolina home....I am hoping to see that beautiful landscape covered in snow.

Here in Florida, we don't have falling leaves, or snow.  That has not stopped us from getting in the Christmas spirit.  If you have an art lover on your list, check out my Etsy shop.  I have a large selection of original paintings as well as gift certificates.

Seascape, "California Bliss", 6x12" SOLD

It always amazes me how different the Atlantic is from the Pacific.  Here, on the east coast, we have mornings when the ocean looks like a big lake, hardly a ripple breaks the surface.

SOLD
I don't have as much experience with the west coast, but it appears to be much more intense.  I have only been to the Pacific in northern California, where it is a deep, beautiful blue, unlike the semi-tropical waters we have in Florida, which can be a bright turquoise.

The reference image for this painting came from Shelly Smart's blog, A Year at the Beach.  She is not posting it anymore, but it remains a fascinating journal.  She posted images of her beach every day for a year.  Thank you Shelly, for sharing your images with me.

Mountain Painting, Daily Painting, Small Oil Painting, "Morning Mist" by Carol Schiff, 12x12x1.5 Original

When I am in the mountains of North Carolina, I love to start the day with a cup of coffee on the front porch.  It is fascinating to watch the sun break over the mountains and burn off the morning mist that collects in the valley in the evening.

This piece is done on gallery wrap canvas, with the sides painted, which allows it to be hung with or without a frame.

I have some exciting news.  I can now offer prints of my work on my Etsy site.  These are high quality giclee' prints on either watercolor paper or canvas.  Although, I have only a few in stock at the moment, my inventory will quickly grow.  If you don't see your favorite painting or size in print, just contact me and I will special order one for you.
