Small Landscape Painting, Daily Painting, Small Oil Painting, "Deep Purple" 6x8" Oil

Purchase here

I've got a thing for purples, lavenders, blues, blah, blah, blah.

detail
I was in the Land O' Trees, better known as western North Carolina, when I painted this.  In the summertime, I get green overload here.  Green mountains, green grass, green leaves.  You cannot escape green.   Maybe that is why doing a purple and blue landscape appealed to me.  More to come!

Mountain Landscape Painting, Daily Painting, Small Oil Painting, 6x8" Original Oil

Now that we live in the Smoky Mountains, escaping the heat and humidity of Florida.  The mountain views are impossible to ignore.

When I finish a new little painting, I like to prop it up on the fireplace mantel, where I can see it and live with it for a few days.  If it passes that test, it goes on Etsy.

Daily Painting, Small Oil Painting, Mountain Landscape, 6x8" Oil on Panel

Inspired by a drive on the Blue Ridge Parkway.

SOLD

I am always inspired by the stunning, scenic, mountain views.

I like to display these small pieces  on a shelf, along with my other "treasures".  Many times, I don't even bother to frame them.

I am in the mountains now, and it is a cool sunny morning.  This Florida girl is running around in layers, trying to stay warm in the morning and stripping down in the afternoon heat.  Of course, the North Carolina natives, consider me to be rather wimpy.  So be it!

Rural Landscape Paintings | Daily Paintings | Small Oil Paintings | Country Roads by Carol Schiff | 6x6x1.5" Oil Original

This rural landscape painting is special to me.  I was inspired to do this small oil painting during my recent trip to North Carolina.

Purchase here
99.95 + shipping
As I took my morning walks, I marveled at the beauty of the area.  Even the road I walked seemed special surrounded in green and little wildflowers.  The trees surrounding the road formed a canopy with strong light shining through.  I couldn't wait to paint the scene!

It is painted on 6x6x1.5"  gallery wrap canvases with the sides painted black.  No framing costs necessary!

I had such fun painting this small landscape painting....can you tell?  I have a companion piece too!  You can see it here:

Daily Painting, SOLD "Red Berries and Leaves" 8x10" Small Landscape

The image for this painting came from an autumn hike in the Blue Ridge Mountains.  I love being there this time of year when color is everywhere.

Purchase here
SOLD

I was attracted to this image because of the unusual color and also by the abstract qualities of the branches.

Blogger is up to it's old tricks this morning, not behaving at all, and insisting on putting my second image at the top of the post.  I had this problem a few weeks ago, then it magically disappeared, now it is back!  ARGH!!!!!!!

Garden Painting, Daily Painting, Small Oil Painting, "Garden Gate by Carol Schiff, 8x8x1.5" Oil

I have recently been attending workshops and studying artists trying to bring better color relationships to my work.  Last week I enjoyed a quick workshop with Elio Camacho, who is a master with color.  His work led me to Sergei Bonhart.

Mr Bongart is a famous Russian artist.  One of my favorite paintings of his depicted his garden, which he painted in all seasons.  I was inspired by his work on this piece.

Daily Painting, Small Oil Painting, "Mountain Poppy Field" by Carol Schiff, 8x10x1.5" Oil

My husband and I spend lots of summer time in the Blue Ridge Mountains of western North Carolina.  Whenever I visit, I carry my camera just about everywhere.

I always love it when I stumble across a field of flowers....it seems like a little surprise gift.  I do have to admit that this gift was probably planted by the North Carolina Highway Department or some such government organization.  Still I have to appreciate the beauty of this seemingly random scene.

PRINTS OF MY WORK
For years, I have resisted painting on gallery wrap canvas because of difficulty with storage and shipping.  Finally, I have seen the light and am moving in that direction!  I still have lots of canvas panels and studio canvas to use up, but as I replenish my supplies, I am using gallery wrap.  It is so superior in look and of course, the ability to hang without a frame.  The exception to this is my small 6x8" paintings which I will probably continue on canvas panel.  I would love to hear your thoughts on this issue!
I hope you like today's daily painting.
