Small Landscape Painting, Daily Painting, Small Oil Painting, "Entering Light" by Carol Schiff, 6x8" Oil

I enjoyed the small landscape painting, of my morning walk, that I posted a few weeks ago.  I decided to do another similar piece.  I hope you like it.

I enjoy the solitude of getting my morning exercise on this road, with nothing to keep me company except the birds and wildflowers and the beautiful canopy of trees.  When I return home from my walk, I feel ready to attack the day ahead.

daily painting, floral still life, small oil painting, sunflower art, sunflower still life,

Are you up for another landscape painting?  I seem to be stuck in that genre these days.  I did a little traveling this summer and have so many beautiful landscape images lined up to paint.

This one is from the Great Smoky Mountain National Park, on the North Carolina side....Bryson City entrance.  If you have ever been there, you will recognize this immediately.

Normally, this scene has a steady flow of kids and adults floating slowly down the river in tubes.  Yes, it is Deep Creek!  A beautiful area with lots of folks having picnics on the banks of the creek.

You can watch the tubers and small children playing in the water, or watch the fly fishermen trying for a trout.  If you on the energetic side, you can go for a mountain hike or maybe just a leisurely stroll to beautiful Thomas Falls.  The perfect no stress day.

Thank you for reading my blog today.

Small Abstract Painting, Church Painting "The Safe Place" by Carol Schiff, 6x8" Oil

I have been dabbling with abstracts for some time, and now have started to add some structures to the mix.

I am always attracted to old churches, and this one is rather special.  It is a local landmark in our town.  I worked right next door for twenty plus years, so I saw it every day.  Now, it also serves as a cold weather shelter for the homeless.

I tried to focus on color interaction as well as texture and abstraction.  I am happy with the results.

Abstract Landscape | Daily Painting | Small Oil Painting | Seeing Better Days by Carol Schiff | 6x8 Oil

This abstract landscape of an isolated structure in blazing sunlight is a memory of the days I lived in Louisiana and Texas.  Often we would find these abandoned structures awaiting a new life.

But it could also be from the countryside of Arizona or even North Dakota, where the weather is very rugged.  Can you tell I moved a lot in my life?  Yes, I spent years and years following my Air Force husband from location to location.  We are so happy to have spread our roots in Florida and North Carolina.

I have to be in the mood to paint with a palette knife, but when I am.....it is really fun (and in my case messy).  Most of my favorite artwork (by me) has a least, some areas of knife work.  I really love the texture which I feel brings a whole new dimension to the piece.

Thanks so much for viewing my abstract landscape today.  I hope you will pin it!

Florida Landscape Paintng | Daily Painting | Small Oil Painting | Dance of the Wavesby Carol Schiff | 6x8" Palette Knife Painting | SOLD

SOLD

I don't really understand what it is about water that makes our blood pressure drop, why it is so appealing  to most everyone.

During the hot, steamy summer months, I often wonder why we live in Florida, but this time of the year, there is no doubt.

Paint me a picture of the landscape.
Dance me the dance of the waves.
Sing me of the legends of the river.
Tell me the story of the sky.

Rural Landscape Painting | Daily Painting | Small Oil Painting | Country Road by Carol Schiff | 6x8" Original

Country Road, take me home.....

I still miss John Denver!   This rural landscape painting reminds me of his talent and the beautiful songs he left with us.

I walk this road every morning when I am in the Smoky Mts. of Carolina.  The morning light and pastoral scenes are the perfect way to start my days there.

I painted with a palette knife, in a technique I refer to as "color weaving".  It allows for lots of texture in the work as well as very subtle changes in color. This is actually the same scene I painted in my previous post, but the finished effect is completely different.  That's one of the things I love about art!

Daily Painting, Small Oil Painting, Abstract Landscape, Abstract Sunset, "Mountain Sunset" 4x6" SOLD

I am just home from a trip to the Blue Ridge Mountains, which inspired my painting for today.

SOLD

My goal was to reproduce the vibrant colors of the sunset with just a suggestion of mountain ridges.

I enjoy the thick application of paint and rough, unfinished texture in this piece.  It seems the more I paint, the more I move towards the abstract form.

This abstract landscape painting is a 4x6" on 1.5" gallery wrap canvas.  If you enjoy it, please pin it.
