Landscape with Flowers, Cone flower painting, daily painting, small oil painting, 9x12" Oil SOLD

I was going through my reference photo files, looking for inspiration, when I found an image from several years ago.  It's funny how I can be totally unimpressed with an image, and then one day, WOW!  I just have to paint it.

SOLD

I tried to remember everything I learned at my workshop with Elio Camacho a few months ago.   I tried to concentrate on color relations and brushwork.

Another priority.....not overworking the piece.  I felt happy when I finished, usually a good sign

A week later, I am still happy with it....an even better sign!  I hope you like it too.

Stormy Landscape Painting, Daily Painting, Small oil Painting, 8x10x.75 Storm Scene

I don't like drama in my life, just my artwork.  The more drama I can produce, in paint, the happier I am.

So, I must admit, I had fun with this little piece.  I started with a reference photo, but tossed it aside after about five minutes of painting.

I just went with the flow, on this one, enjoying the process and pushing paint where I thought it need to go............Good for the soul!

Florida Landscape Paintng | Daily Painting | Small Oil Painting | Dance of the Wavesby Carol Schiff | 6x8" Palette Knife Painting | SOLD

SOLD

I don't really understand what it is about water that makes our blood pressure drop, why it is so appealing  to most everyone.

During the hot, steamy summer months, I often wonder why we live in Florida, but this time of the year, there is no doubt.

Paint me a picture of the landscape.
Dance me the dance of the waves.
Sing me of the legends of the river.
Tell me the story of the sky.

Large Landscape Painting, Storm Painting, "StormFront" by Carol Schiff, 24x30x1.5" Original Oil Painting

In the tropics, the storms come in quickly and violently!  This large landscape painting attempts to convey the power and drama of these events.

I painted with a palette knife and tried to keep all the strokes visible and strong.

Some areas have extremely thick paint.

This is a study for a 48x60" piece that I am planning.

Original Red Hibiscus Oil Painting, Floral Painting, Small Oil Painting, Daily Painting, 6x8"

One of the joys  of living in Florida are the almost year round flowers in our landscapes.  Hibiscus is one of the most used here, and with good reason.  They are easy to grow, beautiful and available in many colors and one of the first to bloom in the spring and late in the winter season.

This one is a study in reds.  Elio Camacho states that red is the most difficult color to paint.  When you can paint a "red" painting, you have arrived (in the art world).

This does not qualify as a "red" painting in my mind.  A "red" study usually has several red objects, each with it's own shades of red.

Still, this is good practice.

Elio likes to present his more advanced students with set ups that are all yellow, or blue, or green etc.  It is only the bravest who attempt the dreaded "all red" set up.
